KERATAN AKHBAR PILIHAN: DSP NORHIDAYAH FLIES HIGH AT IGP CUP MEET

Kuala Lumpur, 17th October 2019 - Deputy Superintendent Nurhidayah Damanhoori won the Women's Junior Veteran high jump event at the Inspector General of Police Cup Athletics Championships at Paroi Stadium here in Seremban, last week.

The Federal Reserve Unit (FRU) commander also rewrote her own record of 1.30m set last year by a centimetre to 1.31m.

The silver was won by Selangor's Siti Aminah at 1.18m and bronze went to Kuala Lumpur's Noor Shazlin Ahmad at 1.13m The 36-year-old DSP Nurhidayah knows when and where to peak, as she has progressed gradually over the years.

As a schoolgirl in SMK Segamat from 1996 to 2000, she participated in the 100m, high jump and 4x100m relay.

Then, at the Reserve Officer Training Unit (ROTU) in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), she was named the Best Cadet of 2006 and was the first female to win the award in 24 years.

At present, she is the first female commander of the Mounted Unit and trains with her horse at her base in Cheras.

Kuala Lumpur emerged overall champions with a commendable haul of 17 gold, 9 silver and 12 bronze medals ahead of second placed headquarters team Bukit Aman (12 gold, 19 silver and five bronze) and East Malaysia's powerhouse team Sabah ended in third position with a collection of 11 gold, two silver and four bronze.

The athletes competed in six categories, namely the Men's Open, Men's Senior Veteran, Men's Junior Veteran, the Women's Open, Women's Senior Veteran and Women's Junior Veteran categories.
