Kuala Lumpur, 8th November 2024 - Malaysia's top cop has reminded his personnel tasked with escorting VVIPs to not act beyond the law.
“There are no double standards here,” Inspector-General of Police, Tan Sri Razarudin Husain told the New Straits Times.
“If
our police personnel break any laws, we will take action immediately,” he said, adding that the public can be assured that policemen would not receive preferential treatment.
He said the proof that policemen were not above the law was “there for everyone to see”.
“We have made multiple arrests in the past involving our personnel, and hauled them up to face charges.”
He cited the indictment of a policeman in Pahang, along with four others yesterday, for assaulting a 44-year-old man in June this year.
