A civil servant has been arrested in connection with the rape of a 17-year-old girl on Tioman island.
The man surrendered himself to police on Saturday night, after the alleged rape was highlighted in the media over the past few days.
Rompin OCPD Deputy SUPT. Muhammad Aidil Roneh Abdullah said the 26-year-old man reported to the police at 10.30pm on his superior's request to assist in the investigations.
He, however, refused to reveal which government department the suspect was from.
