[KERATAN AKHBAR PILIHAN]: REPORT ABUSE AND NOT IGNORE IT, PUBLIC URGED

Petaling Jaya, 1st December 2019 - Malaysians are urged not to turn a blind eye to abuse and to report this to authorities even if they are not directly involved with the victim or the case.

“People don't bother and when asked why they say: It's none of my business”.

“But we have to play our role. Even if you don't want to confront the person directly, call the police. We will come," said ACP Choo Lily during the "Is Malaysia safe for women?" forum here yesterday.

Statistics shared by D11 showed that there were 1,224 reported rape cases between January and October this year. At the same time, the police have also recorded 4,702 domestic violence and 448 abuse cases.
