Born on August 14th 1960, Tan Sri Mazlan Mansor was the youngest of eight siblings.
His grandfather, Corporal Din Arshad, served in the police force during the British colonial era and retired as the officer-in-charge of station (OCS) in Tikam Batu in Sungai Petani, Kedah, in 1948.
Tan Sri Mazlan's late father, Tan Sri Mansor Mohd Noor, was also a policeman and rose to the rank of commissioner before retiring in Bukit Mertajam as director of internal security/public order in 1979.
It was only natural that Tan Sri Mazlan followed in their footsteps.
However, his reasons for joining the force were perhaps more practical than sentimental.
He joined the force in 1977 after completing his Malaysian Certificate of Education, the precursor to Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia.
