KERATAN AKHBAR PILIHAN: RM2.8 MILLION IN SMUGGLED ITEMS SEIZED

Kota Bharu, 25th April 2022 - Marine police recorded 50 smuggling cases in the first two weeks of Ramadan with the seizure of various goods worth about RM2.8 million.
Third Region Commander, Marine Police Force, Royal Malaysia Police, ACP Norzaid Muhammad said the seizures were between April 3rd and 16th in three East Coast states.
He added that the seizures, involving more than RM2 million in goods, were under the Fisheries Act 1985, Customs Act 1967 (RM600,000), Supply Control Act 1961 (RM202,000) and Explosives Act 1957 (RM11,000).
"The rest of the seizures were made under Control of Padi and Rice Act 1994 and the Poison Act 1952," he said in a statement.
ACP Norzaid said cigarettes topped the list of smuggled items seized under the Customs Act.
