Kota Bharu, 12th April 2023 - Police have detained two men, a local and a Thai national, over possession of 18,000 Methamphetamine pills worth about RM180,000 recently.
Kelantan police chief, CP Dato’ Muhamad Zaki Hj. Harun said, policemen arrested the two men at Jalan Rantau Panjang on Sunday, after suspecting their involvement in drug activities.
Speaking at a press conference here yesterday, Dato’ Muhamad Zaki said, police also seized the Honda Vario motorcycle in the operation.
“A police team stopped the duo on the motorcycle when it passed the area at 4.15am, and upon searching the vehicle, found a plastic bag containing the meth pills,” he added.
He said that initial investigations showed that the 26-year-old local and the 27-year-old Thai national were members of a drug smuggling syndicate.
“Police believe the two, who both tested positive for drugs, smuggled the pills via an illegal route along the Kelantan/Thai border.
“The pills were meant for distribution to local suppliers and those in other states including the Klang Valley,” he added.
