NOVICE DRUG PUSHER NABBED IN JASIN
Jasin: The quick action of police in Jasin led to a novice drug distributor who was being nabbed before he could set up a ganja distribution network in the district.
The 22-year-old youth was sitting on his motorcycle outside a restaurant at Sungai Bekoh in Jasin on Nov 23 when Inspector Kalvinderjit Singh Jit Singh sniffed something amiss and directed his team to apprehend the suspect.
Thirty-three packets of ganja were found concealed below the youth's motorcycle seat.
According to Jasin OCPD Deputy Supt Arshad Abu, the suspect, who also tested positive for drugs, is believed to have been trying to become a drug distributor in the
"The quick action by my men thwarted his attempt to distribute ganja here," DSP Arshad said, adding that the youth's Malaysian passport was also confiscated.
The suspect has been remanded until Dec 4 to allow for investigations under Section 39A(2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a life sentence and ten strokes of the rotan upon conviction.
