CP Dato’ Dr. Lee Bee Phang, who recently made history by becoming the first woman of Chinese descent to have been promoted to Commissioner of Police, recalled how she won over her mother who was not supportive of her career choice some 34 years ago, Sin Chew Daily reported.

“I understood that she was worried about me and did not argue with her,” said Dato’ Dr. Lee.
Her mother warmed up to her career choice soon after and often visited her in Penang where she was posted.
“Her actions were her way of showing her support,” she said.
