Pasir Mas, 12th February 2022 - All the General Operations Force (GOF) members operating at the Kelantan-Thailand border have been urged to ramp up their checks on illegal jetties normally used by smugglers to bring in drugs.
Southeast Brigade GOF Commander, SAC Tuan Hasan Basri Ahmad Safar said the directive, effective immediately, was taken after police identified many jetties being used by smugglers to bring in drugs.
"Certain illegal jetties along Sungai Golok have been used by smugglers to bring in various drugs into this country via the Kelantan border.
"Therefore, I have directed all GOF members from the three battalions to ramp up their operations involving these jetties. Such a move is aimed at preventing more drugs from entering the country," he said.
Tuan Hasan Basri admitted that smugglers were getting smarter and would grab any opportunities to bring in drugs. "But our officers will not let this continue and they will not give them any chance to do so.
"They will do whatever is necessary to put a stop to this activity," he added.
