Kuantan, 20 May 2023 - A Tipper lorry driver was slapped with a traffic summons for reckless driving, which led to an accident along Jalan Kuantan-Gambang near Kampung Sri Fajar on Wednesday.
A 59-second video of the lorry knocking into the rear of a car, resulting in it turning turtle in the middle of the road, has gone viral on Facebook. The car was driven by a 35-year-old.
District Police Chief, ACP Wan Mohd Zahari Wan Busu said both the vehicle drivers had lodged police reports on the same day.
“The incident occurred about 3.05pm on May 17 and investigations revealed the 30-year-old lorry driver was reckless in moving from the fast lane to the slow lane.
“He crashed into the car which was travelling in front of his lorry. Both drivers escaped unhurt.
“Police have completed their investigations and a traffic summons has been issued against the lorry driver in line with Rule 8 of the Road Traffic Rules 1959,” he said in a statement yesterday.
