KERATAN AKHBAR PILIHAN: HANDLING CHILD CRIME VICTIMS WITH CARE

Kuala Lumpur, 20th June 2023 - More than two decades ago, Malaysian police recognised the need for specialised centres, where child victims of crimes could be put more at ease when being interviewed by investigators.

They also recognised that it would take policemen and women who were specially trained to handle such cases and to persuade the children to talk without subjecting them to more trauma.

In 2002, this came to fruition with the setting up of Child Interview Centres (CIC), run by the Sexual, Women and Children Investigation Division (D11).

Now, with the rapid growth of the digital world, these centres have become even more important as there are more opportunities for criminals to exploit and victimise children.
