Putrajaya, 27th August 2023 - Police will step up security at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Bukit Bintang and Dataran Merdeka to ensure the public's safety during the National Day Eve celebration.
Kuala Lumpur police chief, CP Dato’ Allaudeen Abdul Majid said only some roads around Dataran Merdeka would be closed for the celebration.
For
the National Day celebration at Dataran Putrajaya on August 31, which is expected to attract 100,000 visitors, he said, 1,764 police personnel, including 416 traffic policemen, would be on duty to ensure public order and control traffic in Putrajaya.
They will be assisted by the Sahabat Team, involving 266 members from agencies, such as the People's Volunteer Corps and Civil Defence Force.
Dato’ Allaudeen said a fully manned operation room would be activated to conduct flushing at the response site, ensuring an emergency route for ambulances, and the setting of coordinated traffic routes and other emergency planning.
He said 18 main roads in Putrajaya would be closed for the National Day parade training and rehearsals between Sam and Ham from tomorrow to August 29, and 22 roads would be closed on August 31.
“The road closures will not affect traffic in Putrajaya even on working days as there are alternative routes and we have made advance notices through announcements in the media and other channels.”
