Kuala Lumpur, 26th March 2025 - What appeared to be a roadblock in Lahad Datu, Sabah, turned out to be a heartwarming surprise for motorists as uniformed personnel were instead handing out 'bubur lambuk'.
Drivers were expecting a routine police checkpoint after noticing slow-moving traffic and the presence of uniformed personnel.
Instead, they were greeted with smiles and steaming packs of 'bubur lambuk' from members of the General Operations Force (GOF).
A 36-second TikTok clip posted by user @putera8655 captured the moment as officers from Battalion 17 of the Lahad Datu GOF handed out the porridge to passing motorists, turning a regular traffic stop into a festive experience.
The video was captioned: “The drivers were nervous, but it was just to give out 'bubur lambuk'." Cars cautiously approached the officers, likely expecting inspection, but drivers quickly relaxed and happily accepted the porridge.
Among the most excited recipients was a van full of schoolchildren, eagerly reaching out of the windows for their surprise treat.
