KERATAN AKHBAR PILIHAN: COPS WANT ‘TAKE IT DOWN’ LAW FOR MALAYSIA

Kuala Lumpur, 9th June 2025 - Malaysia should introduce a law similar to the United States 'Take it Down' Act, which criminalises the publication of nonconsensual intimate images, including deepfakes, police said.

Director of Criminal Investigation Department, CP Dato' Sri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain said such legislation would curb online sexual exploitation.
“We need clear boundaries and laws to deal with the challenges of the digital age,” he told the New Straits Times.

“This is especially important to protect young people from becoming victims of online sex predators.” Dato' Sri Mohd Shuhaily said immoral and malicious conduct should not be condoned, whether in the physical or digital world.

“I believe that if we can introduce similar legislation here, enforcement agencies will greatly benefit from it,” he said.
