Kuala Lumpur, 12th June 2025 - Federal police are upping the ante in their efforts to curb smuggling, human trafficking and illegal intrusions.
They have outlined key strategies that will be implemented through the General Operations Force (GOF).
The move follows the crackdown on illegal crossings along the Kelantan-Thailand border which was put in place in December and has led to a drop in such activities in the area.
Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said several measures are being implemented involving comprehensive strategies to enhance national border security and prevent illegal intrusions, particularly in high-risk areas.
“One of these measures includes the construction of permanent and temporary control posts that will be manned by the GOF.
“The GOF has intensified the construction of permanent and temporary control posts at strategic locations, especially along the Malaysia-Thailand and Malaysia-Indonesia borders, which are targeted for illegal crossings,” he told the New Straits Times.
