Kuala Lumpur, 30th Mac 2025 - While most people are on their way back to their hometowns or are already with their families for Hari Raya Aidilifitri, 120 personnel from the General Operations Force (GOF) are hard at work safeguarding the nation’s border.
The men from the GOF’s 18th Battalion, based in Pengkalan Hulu, Perak, are patrolling the border between Perlis and Thailand from March 6 to April 9.
Platoon commander Inspector Muhammad Hazwan Hairuddin, said this would be his first Aidilfitri away from his family.
He said although his wife and children were sad that he would be away during the celebration, they accepted it.
“They know this comes with the job. This is a small sacrifice to protect the country.” Inspector Muhammad Hazwan said part of his duties was conducting foot patrols between the nine posts along the border.
